It's only fitting that the ribbon that will celebrate the grand opening of the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art is also a work of art. The campus community got a chance last week (Oct. 5) to paint the links of the ribbon that will wrap around the museum for its Nov. 13 opening. The ribbon project is the brainchild of Lisa Rybovich Crallé, MFA '11. Future stops for the ribbon painting include the Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento on Oct. 15 and the Napa Valley Museum on Oct. 22.

Meet a chemical-biology trainee

Cody Palumbo is a trainee in the Beal Laboratory whose work is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. He's working on his Ph.D., and is working on a project titled, "RNA Tethering to Enhance Binding to Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA (ADAR2).” He said he initially wanted to make molecules, but now studies their impact.
