Opportunities for Staff: MBA Programs, ProShare Networking

Staff members have myriad ways to advance their careers at UC Davis. How about studying for an MBA and possibly having a staff scholarship to do so? Or maybe you’re looking for networking and group mentoring.

Here are two upcoming opportunities:

Business Analytics

This fall the Graduate School of Management adds to its master's degree offerings, with a new business analytics program in San Francisco. Read more.

The GSM welcomes applications from UC Davis staff for the school’s nationally ranked Sacramento Part-Time MBA Program and Bay Area Part-Time MBA Program — and invites interested staff members to learn more at an information session this week.

Kathy Gleed and Joel Pulliam, senior director and associate director of admissions, respectively, will provide details on the programs and tell how a UC Davis MBA degree can directly advance your career.

You will also learn about the UC Davis Staff MBA Scholarship Programoffering awards valued at up to $22,500, established “to accelerate your career, reach your leadership potential and help make UC Davis the University of the 21st century,” according to the GSM. The information session will offer tips on how to pull together your most competitive materials for the scholarship program.

The meeting is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 10) in 2310 Gallagher Hall. RSVPs are requested by 5 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 8).

ProShare networking opportunity returns

The Administrative Management Group, or ADMAN, and Staff Assembly have joined forces once again to offer ProShare, a professional growth and networking opportunity for staff, after having a successful program last year.

ProShare aims to help managers, aspiring managers and staff at all levels expand their network of campus and medical center colleagues for the benefit of mutual guidance and support. ProShare is a natural complement to the UC Davis Mentoring Toolkit and Group Mentoring Program, both provided through UC Davis Talent Management.

ProShare participants will be assigned to five-member cohorts that will meet monthly, January through May. Cohort members will take turns hosting 90-minute meetings that could include department tours, presentations to the group or discussions of key management issues. All ProShare participants will be invited to come together three times during the program: at a kickoff event, for a mid-program networking event and a wrap-up get-together.

The enrollment deadline is Dec. 2, via this online registration form. Questions? Contact Rosemary Martin-Ocampo by email.
