'Igniting Genius': Conference on STEM education

Sunday, Nov. 9 -- "Igniting Genius: Lighting the Spark for All" is the theme of the fourth annual Conference on Integrated Computing and STEM Education at UC Davis. Organized by the university's Center for Integrated Computing and STEM Education (C-STEM Center), the conference will bring together teachers, researchers, educators, policymakers and industrial partners to share their experiences, best practices and ideas on the future direction of STEM education.

Speakers will include Karen Shores, administrator of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Office at the California Department of Education; Hossein Saadat, vice president for Global Supply Chain, Hewlett-Packard; and Steve Wright, director and sector navigator, Information and Communications Technologies and Digital Media, California Community College system.

There will also be two preconference workshops, Nov. 7-8 and Nov. 8, to introduce teachers to the C-STEM curriculum and programming.
