Arrest Made in Campus Burglaries

UC Davis police reported making an arrest last week in connection with recent burglaries on campus.

According to police, a bicycle officer stopped the male suspect at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday (April 8), and determined he was wearing clothing taken in a burglary reported earlier in the day at The Pavilion. He was also found to be in possession of numerous UC Davis keys and key cards, laptops, a lock pick tool set, a speaker and other items, police said, noting the laptops and speaker were believed to be from other recent burglaries on campus.

Dustin McGuire, 32, was booked at Yolo County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property. He was also issued with an order to stay away from campus.

The Police Department has increased security patrols since the campus suspended operations. Most buildings should now be locked. If you must come to campus, please use only the main entrance of your building. If you unlock a door, ensure it is closed and secured behind you.

If you encounter suspicious activity or a door that should be secured, report it immediately to police by calling 530-752-1230. Report malfunctioning doors to Facilities Management by calling 530-752-1655.
