Extramural awards by source
Innovative research requires sustained investment from a wide range of partners. At UC Davis, annual extramural awards have approached or exceeded $1 billion in each of the past five years. The federal government is the largest source, while the State of California and a diverse group of corporations, charities, foundations and other organizations provide significant additional support.
Research funding sources
The federal government is by far the biggest investor in our research, and for good reason. The millions of dollars we receive each year are transformed into innovations that directly improve the lives of Americans, whether it be a full-body PET scanner, a better glass of wine or a plug-in electric vehicle.
