Federally Funded Research Helps Children with Autism Thrive
Benjamin is 11 years old. He loves art, theater and creating new worlds with costumes and imagination. He’s also a participant in the Autism Phenome Project, a federally funded longitudinal study at the UC Davis MIND Institute that has followed children with autism since 2011. Researchers are working to identify early predictors of long-term outcomes so families and clinicians can better support each child’s development.
Through sustained federal investment, UC Davis research is advancing knowledge about autism while creating spaces where children can fully be themselves. That progress strengthens care, informs policy and improves outcomes for families beyond the Autism Phenome Project.
“I feel seen. It was just a happy experience.” – Benjamin
