Background: The Woodland-UC Davis partnership adds to UC Davis' growing roster of school/university partnerships in communities with a history of low college attendance. The goal is to raise the level of college preparedness and eligibility for all students with numerous programs that provide support to teachers, counselors, administrators, and students and their families. This new partnership expands on services already provided in the district by UC Davis' Early Academic Outreach Program and Educational Talent Search. Serving Freeman and Beamer elementary schools, Lee Junior High School, and Woodland High School, the partnership assures continuity of college preparation as Woodland students move from elementary to junior high and through senior high school. PG & E Corp. has been a corporate sponsor for many UC Davis academic outreach activities. Supporting education is one of the corporation's top funding priorities, and includes sponsorship of higher education and innovative K-12 programs, particularly those that focus on math, science, environmental stewardship, and emergency preparedness, or that encourage students to stay in school. Directions: Northbound on Interstate 5 from Sacramento, take the West Street exit in Woodland. Turn left and proceed approximately six blocks or one mile. Freeman Elementary School, 126 N.
