Conference on Air Pollution in National Parks

Concerned about increasing levels of air pollution in the national parks, experts from several universities, the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service will gather June 15-17 at UC Davis for a conference on "Air Quality and the National Parks." During the three-day public meeting, speakers will discuss specific pollution issues in the Grand Canyon, the Stanislaus National Forest and parks of the Sierra Nevada. Afternoon workshops will be devoted to discussions of the ecological problems and human health implications associated with air pollution in the parks. Participants also will discuss the chemistry and atmospheric fate of air pollutants. The conference is the first in a series of meetings regarding air pollution issues that will be organized by the UC Davis Air Quality and Health Research Group.
