Several UC Davis music groups are due to present concerts in the first half of March:

Early Music and Baroque Ensembles -- 8 p.m. March 4, St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 640 Hawthorne Lane, Davis. One of Bach's earliest cantatas, Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich, BWV 150; plus works by Corelli and Purcell (anthems and songs). Suggested donation at the door: $12 adults, and $6 students and children.

Gospel Choir -- 7 p.m. March 10, Freeborn Hall. Tickets: Mondavi Center box office.

Symphony Orchestra, University Chorus and Alumni Chorus -- Joint concert, 8 p.m. March 11, Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. The Department of Music advised that tickets are likely to sell out, so get them early; they are available through the Mondavi Center box office.

Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is listed as the featured work of the night. The program is set to open with Handel's Organ Concerto in B-flat Major, op. 4, No. 2, with artist-in-residence Martin Neary set to conduct the concerto from the John Brombaugh positive organ.

Some 300 performers will be on stage for the choral finale set to Schiller's Ode to Joy, a news release stated.
