To explore ways to improve cooperative efforts between community colleges and the University of California, chancellors, presidents and faculty members will meet at UC Davis on Friday, March 6.
"Partners in Higher Education," the 10th annual symposium of its kind, will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center.
"The primary focus of this year's meeting will be on strengthening and enhancing the community college transfer process," according to Daniel Roy, director of student special services at UC Davis and symposium chair.
Among the speakers will be UC President Richard Atkinson and California Community Colleges Chancellor Thomas Nussbaum. They will address the topic "Working Together to Enhance the Transfer Process." A panel presentation will follow entitled "Community College and UC Partnerships: Widening the Pipeline." The program will conclude with a luncheon speaker, Assemblymember Jack Scott.
"UC Davis has developed a strong base of innovative programs in collaboration with community colleges," says Carol Wall, UC Davis vice chancellor for student affairs. "We are committed to establishing stronger links between our faculties and to working collaboratively in our new initiatives with local schools."
