UC Davis Student Arrested for Library Assault

Azeem I. Butt, 23, was arrested today by University of California, Davis, police officers for sexual offenses reportedly committed against women. Butt allegedly approached young Asian female students in Shields Library during the past five months and asked for their participation in a sexual survey he was conducting as a student research project. Seven women filed complaints with the police department charging the suspect with lewd conduct that included physical contact with the victims. Crimes were committed in three of the seven cases. Butt is charged with one count of sexual battery, two counts of lewd conduct in public and one count of indecent exposure. Butt is a registered UC Davis student majoring in applied physics. He was arrested at his on-campus apartment.
