UC Davis Hosts State Community College Presidents for Collaboration

California community college chancellors, presidents and faculty members will meet at UC Davis on Friday, March 8, to discuss cooperative efforts between community colleges and the University of California. "Partners in Higher Education," the ninth UC Davis/Community College Symposium, will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. "The focus of this year's meeting will be on examining ways that we can work together to make higher education in California more accessible and affordable," says Daniel Roy, director of student special services at UC Davis and symposium chair. Among the speakers will be Arnold Leiman, chair of the UC Assembly of the Academic Senate and Academic Council, and Marguerite Archie-Hudson, member of the California State Assembly. The program will include an open discussion that will be directed by Warren Fox, executive director of the California Postsecondary Education Commission. "In cooperation with community colleges, UC Davis has taken the lead in developing programs and services for transfer students," says Carol Wall, UC Davis vice chancellor for student affairs. "The symposium provides a forum for discussing ways to further improve opportunities for community college transfers."
