Tourette's syndrome is the topic for the first installment of the MIND Institute's 2006-07 Distinguished Lecturer Series on Oct. 11, with David Pauls of Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital as the presenter that day.

Programs in the series are scheduled the second Wednesday of each month through June in the MIND Institute auditorium, 2825 50th St., at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

Organizers said each speaker will give two presentations: a technical talk at 4 p.m. and a general-interest presentation at 6 p.m., each followed by a question-and-answer period.

Pauls' presentations: 4 p.m., "Genetics of Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome," and 6 p.m., "Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: What is the Relationship?"

All sessions in the series are free and open to the public. Reservations are generally not needed.
