Sustainable Ag Network Formed

A sustainable agriculture information network involving 14 universities, government agencies, businesses and nonprofit organizations has been established. "The idea for the network is to share information about sustainable agriculture among information users and providers," says Jill Auburn, chair of the network and an information analyst with the UC Davis-based UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program. Auburn says that information related to sustainable agriculture is increasingly available from an informal network of research and education institutions, farmer groups and other organizations. "However, locating the information and identifying the gaps in available information is an increasing challenge," she says. The information network is now compiling a directory of individuals and organizations in sustainable agriculture that will be available in printed and electronic forms, as well as via newer technologies such as computer networking.
