When it comes to science, school is not out for the summer at UC Davis. Throughout the summer, a range of programs on campus offer various opportunities for tapping into the university's science and engineering resources. Instead of taking a summer break, minority, female and lower-income high-school and college students will receive extra experience in engineering, physical and mathematical sciences. UC Davis students in food and agricultural studies will apply their studies to internships. Researchers and students will compare notes about lakes Tahoe and Baikal. In biology, teachers also will learn how to turn the latest human genetics research into classroom lessons for regional high schools. And college and high-school teachers will experiment with ways to teach science for multilingual classes.
