Peet’s replaced Starbucks at the ARC earlier this summer, and now has Starbucks’ old location in the Silo, too — the result of the campus’s switch to Peet’s and Java City for coffee service, after a competitive bidding process.

Also new as of July: The campus is handling all food service (except for the Coffee House), doing away with the Sodexo contract. And with that switch, the campus had the opportunity to change up the Silo’s offerings.

REGULAR HOURS

Spokes Grill — 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. (Closing at 4 p.m. daily this week.)

Crêpe Bistro — 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday.

Peet's — 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday.

So, Carl’s Jr. is out, and the Spokes Grill is in. Taco Bell and Pizza Hut are out. Some of that space is now occupied by Crêpe Bistro, which formerly operated the La Crêpe stand in the Silo. The bistro, expected to open Wednesday (Sept. 20), has a full kitchen now, and has added baguette sandwiches, salads and soups to the menu.

A freshening of the Silo’s interior led to about 65 additional seats, said Kraig Brady, director of Hospitality and Dining Services. “It’s a fresh start,” he said. “We’ve refreshed the space and we’ve refreshed the menus.”

A November opening is planned for the South Silo’s Silo Market, including Market Express Grab-n-Go cold goods, along with pizza and sandwiches.

Dining Services is also working to keep the campus community updated on the rotating slate of food trucks that park in the Silo Plaza each day. More information about food trucks on campus.

Not including the Silo Market, around 150 students and 12 career staff work in the Silo eateries.
