The American Society of Agricultural Engineers has presented a Blue Ribbon Award in the society's Educational Aids Competition to Blaine Hanson, an irrigation and drainage specialist with the UC Davis land, air, and water resources department. The purpose of the competition is to encourage members to submit new educational materials. His entry was titled "Irrigation Pumping Plants."
