Walter Massey, UC provost and senior vice president for academic affairs and former director of the National Science Foundation, will address "The Future of the Research Enterprise" in the university and around the nation on Monday, April 10, at UC Davis. The following week on Thursday, April 20, C. Peter Magrath, president of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges and past president of the University of Missouri System, will talk about "The 21st-Century State and Land-Grant University." Both lectures are part of this year's new Chancellor's Forum on the Future lecture series, a program designed to explore the future of higher education. All the talks begin at 4 p.m. in the campus University Club. Pat Callan, executive director of the California Higher Education Policy Center, will close this year's series Tuesday, May 2, with a talk titled "Future of California Higher Education: By Design or Default."
