Harvard's Boycotting Professor to Speak

Derrick Bell, a professor of law at Harvard University who refuses to resume teaching there until the law school adds a woman minority professor to its faculty, will be the commencement speaker for the UC Davis School of Law's graduation ceremony Saturday, May 25. Commencement exercises will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Recreation Hall. Bell, the first black tenured professor at Harvard Law School, launched his teaching boycott with the start of the current academic year. He is observing the boycott to push for more minority representation on the Harvard faculty. Bell will be available for interviews for a limited time Saturday morning, May 25.
