-- UC Davis pediatric professor Ernesto Pollitt traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, on Jan. 29 to receive a medal and cash award from King Bhumipol Adulyadej. Pollitt was named a co-recipient of the Prince Mahidol Award for his contributions to understanding the effects of undernutrition on the learning and behavior of children. The award is named in the honor of the king's father, Prince Mahidol of Songkla, who made medical education and public health and welfare his lifelong priority in Thailand. Pollitt will share a $50,000 award with David Barker of the University of South Hampton in the United Kingdom.
