Designing Students Show Heart for Social Causes

Designing students at UC Davis recently combined their creativity with social responsibility to draft design solutions for nine Sacramento-area nonprofit agencies. The 112 students enrolled in Design 2 visited the social services agencies to see the problems firsthand. At the Sacramento Emergency Housing Program, they found a dining room that sounds like an echo chamber and needs some acoustical improvements. Centro Guadalupe needs a mural to make it a more inviting place. After drawing up their plans, the students presented their recommendations and the costs of implementing them to the agencies.
