Best Collegiate Waterskiers in the West to Compete

The best collegiate waterskiers in the West will be competing this weekend in Sacramento for the opportunity to participate in the national championship later this month in Louisiana. Among the teams that UC Davis is hosting Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7, are Stanford, UCLA, Arizona State, University of Washington and UC San Diego. Among the 18 schools represented, the number one seed is Cal State Sacramento. Both men and women skiers will compete in slalom, trick and jumping events beginning at 8 a.m. at Bel Acqua Lake in Rio Linda. The all-day competition features both regionally and nationally ranked skiers in both collegiate and open divisions. Reporters and photo editors will have opportunities to ride in the ski boat. To find the specially designed waterski lake from Sacramento, take I-80 east to Raley Boulevard. Turn left on Raley Boulevard and left on E Street. Proceed on E Street until the road ends and the small lake is on the left.
