Winds Bring Poor Air Quality on Campus

Update: The Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District has issued a smoke alert for Davis, Zamora, Woodland and surrounding communities

The smoke currently affecting the Davis area comes from a fire at a recycling center near Zamora, according to UC Davis Fire Chief Nate Trauernicht. High winds overnight accelerated a smoldering fire and brought smoke and poor air quality to campus.

The fire itself is not a threat to campus but poor air quality may affect sensitive groups, Trauernicht said.
