What’s Open, What’s Closed: Winter ’25

It’s that time of the year to think twice about where to find food and drink options, and other services on campus. Fall quarter ends Friday (Dec. 12) and winter break is right around the corner. Here's a guide to what’s open and closed on campus until the first day of winter instruction begins Monday, Jan. 5. 

Food and coffee

Most campus dining commons, market places and coffee location’s last day open is Friday. This will also be the last day to use meal plans. Latitude restaurant will close a day earlier; its last day open is Thursday.

Segundo Dining Commons will reopen with dinner service on Friday, Jan. 2. All other dining commons, markets and coffee locations will reopen Monday, Jan. 5. Latitude restaurant will also reopen Jan. 5 at breakfast. Updated dining hours and menus are online. Coffee location hours are also available online.

The Coffee House will stay open until midnight the week of finals, Dec. 8-11. The CoHo is also offering a finals-friendly deal of half-price drip coffee that same week. Gingerbread hot chocolate will also be for sale through December as a limited, seasonal option. The CoHo will transition to limited hours Dec. 15-20 and will close for the holiday starting Dec. 21. It will reopen on Monday, Jan. 5.

Also note that starting Jan. 5, the Meal Card Office will be in a new location: the first floor lobby of the Tercero Services Center near the stairs.

Library

The main building of Shields Library will be closed beginning Saturday (Dec. 13) and will reopen Monday, Jan. 5. The 24-Hour Study Room will remain open throughout the winter break. Daily hours are available on the library’s website

Memorial Union 

The Memorial Union will have reduced hours the week of Dec. 15 before closing for winter break Dec. 20 through Jan. 1. The Games Area will also be closed from Dec. 20 through Jan. 4. Find all MU hours online.

Unitrans

Unitrans will operate modified schedules starting this week. There will be no Unitrans service on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. Regular academic weekday service resumes on Monday, Jan. 5. Find a detailed breakdown of the modified schedules at the Unitrans website.

Manetti Shrem Museum

The Manetti Shrem Museum is currently closed and will reopen Wednesday, Jan. 7. Find updated museum hours on its website.

Graduate Studies and Center

Graduate Studies and the Graduate Center will have modified hours to account for holidays, events and limited staff coverage. Amidst the department’s adjusted in-person schedules and building closures, remote advising options are still available. Their holiday hours are online.

Student Health and Counseling Services

Student Health and Counseling Services facilities, including usual services to students, will be closed from Monday, Dec. 22 through Friday, Jan. 2, and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 5.

Supply Chain Management (Repro Graphics, Mail Services, more)

Several units operated by Supply Chain Management will suspend and reduce service from Dec. 22-Jan. 2. A full list of holiday hours and closures is available online

Transportation Services

The Transportation Services office will be partially closed Dec. 15-Jan. 2, and will be fully closed on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. 

During the partial closure, the office will not be open for walk-in or scheduled appointments, and the Mobility Assistance Shuttle will not be in service. Staff will be monitoring email and have limited availability to respond for motorist assistance and bike program services as needed. 

Paid permits are required Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m., except for university holidays.

Holiday heat shutdown

Facilities Management Energy Conservation Office is turning off non-critical heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for winter break. For this winter break, the systems for non-critical areas (mostly offices and classrooms) will be turned off Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. Laboratories and animal spaces will not be affected.
