We've updated our list of holiday hours and closures with notice of reduced service, Dec. 19 to Jan. 2, on the UC Davis-UC Davis medical center shuttle. See the schedule below.

The administrative holidays this year are Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 26 and 27, and Friday and Monday, Dec. 30 and Jan. 2. Read the campus directive.

Many departments and units also will be closed the two days in between: Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 28 and 29, with employees using vacation time or compensatory time — or given alternative assignments.

As usual, the campus will turn down the thermostats, where appropriate, to save on heating costs. The turn-down will be in effect from the evening of Dec. 23 through the morning Jan. 3 — which means, if you plan to work, say, Dec. 28 and 29, between the administrative holidays, you may find your office a bit chilly — so remember to dress appropriately.

Employees also are asked to turn off lights and office equipment during the winter break. See Campus Energy Checklist.

The campus will not be completely closed. The Police Department will be fully staffed, but, with so much ground to cover and with so few people around, officers could use some extra eyes. So, if you happen to be around, and you see something unusual, please call 911 or (530) 752-1230.

Coffee will be available at the Coffee House and Starbucks at the Silo Union and the ARC through Dec. 23. Some of the food counters in the Coffee House will be open limited hours through Dec. 23, and in the Silo through Dec. 16. See box for details.

The libraries, the main bookstore, the Activities and Recreation Center, and Repro Graphics also announced holiday hours and closures. See listings below.

Unitrans buses will not be running Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1; break service or weekend service will be in effect during the rest of the holiday period. The UC Davis-UC Davis Medical Center shuttle also will offer reduced service during winter break. See listings below.

The shuttle will operate on a reduced holiday schedule, Dec. 19-Jan. 2, with the following exceptions:

• Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 26-27 — No service.
• Friday, Dec. 30 — No service.
• Tuesday, Jan. 2 — No service.

The reduced shuttle schedule:

• Departs medical center — 6:20, 7:10, 8:10 and 11:10 a.m., and 3:10, 4:10 and 5:15 p.m.
• Departs Silo — 7:10, 8:10 and 9:10 a.m., and 12:10, 4:10, 5:10 and 6:10 p.m.
• Departs Lot 56 (Health Sciences District) — 7:13, 8:13 and 9:13 a.m., and 12:13, 4:13, 5:13 and 6:13 p.m.
• Departs Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts — 7:21, 8:21 and 9:21 a.m., and 12:21, 4:21, 5:21 and 6:21 p.m.
