UC Davis Releases Major Accident Investigation Report of April Collision

The UC Davis community continues to grieve for Lincoln Wells Sabini, an undergraduate student who died after the bicycle he was riding collided with a car on Hutchison Drive, near the West Village housing area on April 13.

The UC Davis Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team, in consultation with the Davis City Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and UC Santa Cruz, completed their investigation of that fatal collision.

The comprehensive investigation included precise reconstruction and analysis of the moments leading to the collision. Investigators determined Sabini sustained a fatal injury when, for unknown reasons, his bicycle veered into the traffic lane, colliding with a motor vehicle traveling in the same direction.

The UC Davis community mourns the loss of Lincoln Sabini with his family and friends. Lincoln was a sophomore studying in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ Department of Land, Air and Water Resources, and he was a dedicated member of the UC Davis Triathlon Club. His life and contributions to our community will be remembered.

The report is available here.
