‘UC Davis Magazine’ Gets Overhauled Website

Alumni may be used to getting alumni and campus news from UC Davis Magazine twice a year, but now they can read frequent updates from the university’s flagship alumni publication on its revamped website, magazine.ucdavis.edu.

MORE ALUMNI STORIES

“We want to be able to connect with even more of our alumni, and this website will create another way to interact with our readers,” said editor Jocelyn Anderson ’98.

The website is free to all, and not only includes full article access but additional web-only features. It is mobile-friendly and offers a modern design with full-width photos and multimedia. The site’s goal is to be both visually appealing and user-friendly, with a clear organization allowing readers to easily sort stories by magazine section, subject, issue or search.

The overhauled website was designed by magazine art director Russ Thebaud and other staff from the Office of Strategic Communications.

With the launch, UC Davis Magazine aims to broaden its web presence, increase accessibility and reach a wider audience, including through a forthcoming email newsletter. After all, UC Davis now boasts 250,000 alumni.

The print magazine will continue on its twice-yearly schedule, landing in mailboxes in the spring and fall. Articles appearing in the print magazine will be supplemented with additional photos, videos and other content online.

The previous magazine website debuted in 1997 and was updated in 2007. It had been on hiatus since 2015, when the print magazine was redesigned. The prior website’s archive of selected articles from as early as 1996 is still available at magazinearchive.ucdavis.edu.

UC Davis Magazine was created 35 years ago, helping mark the beginning of a yearlong celebration of the campus’ 75th anniversary.
