UC Davis’ Patricia A. Conrad and UC San Francisco's Craig R. Cohen have moved up in the leadership team at the UC Global Health Institute, appointed as co-directors who will work closely with the new director, Thomas J. Coates, in managing the institute’s operations.

Conrad, professor and associate dean for Global Programs in the School of Veterinary Medicine, formerly served as a co-director for the Global Health Institute’s Center of Expertise on One Health. Cohen, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UCSF, previously served as a co-director of the institute's Center of Expertise on Women’s Health and Empowerment.

The institute announced Conrad’s and Cohen’s new co-director roles at the same time it announced Coates’ promotion from co-director to director. Coates, a professor of medicine and founding director of UCLA’s Center for World Health, succeeds Haile T. Debas, the institute’s founding director. Debas now adds the title director emeritus to his other title: chancellor and dean emeritus of UCSF.

"Rocko brings a wealth of superb experience in Division I athletics to UC Davis,” Athletics Director Kevin Blue said in making the announcement Aug. 1. He said DeLuca "will strengthen our program to a significant degree as we build for excellence going forward.”

DeLuca had served as senior associate athletics director and executive director of development for UMass athletics since 2010, providing leadership in several areas, including fundraising, sport program administration and external relations.
