Thinking Retirement? Think This Workshop Series

Quick Summary

  • Retiree Center presents “Transitioning to Retirement” in four parts
  • Series scheduled for January on Davis campus, February on Sacramento campus
  • Each series has 2 tracks, one for staff, the other for faculty/physicians/academics

Registration is open for the Retiree Center’s annual “Transitioning to Retirement” series of workshops, intended for people considering retirement within the next five years, to be held in January and February on the Davis can Sacramento campuses.

“The life changes that accompany retirement can be unexpectedly challenging,” organizers with the Retiree Center said upon announcing the 2020 series. See the topics, dates, times and locations below. Space is limited, the organizers said, so the earlier you register, the better your chance of getting in.

Each series comprises four three-hour sessions to be held weekly over the course of a month: January on the Davis campus and February on the Sacramento campus. Each series is divided into two tracks that will meet the same day: staff in the morning and faculty/physicians/academics in the afternoon.

When signing up, you may choose to alternate between locations. For example, you could attend Parts 1 and 3 on the Davis campus in January, and Parts 2 and 4 on the Sacramento campus in February, or any combination you like, to fit your schedule or to spread out your time away from your department.

The organizers recommend attending all four parts, although you can sign up for only one, two or three parts, if you prefer.

For people who cannot attend the workshops, or for people who are more than five years from retirement, online presentations and other resources are available on the Retiree Center’s retirement planning webpage.
