Statement on Court Ruling Rejecting Temporary Halt to West Village Construction

The state court ruling on AFSCME’s request for a temporary halt to construction on the West Village housing project affirms that the Regents’ decision to move forward with the long-range development plan is sound. It reflects an understanding of the urgent need for student housing that UC Davis is addressing with the West Village project. The project will provide 3,300 new student beds, opening up potential housing for others in the community. We are pleased that we can continue forward with our commitment to work with the City of Davis and Yolo County to find ways to address the critical housing shortage in our area.
