State Supreme Court Justice to Speak at UC Davis

* March 17-21, Monday to Friday -- Associate Justice Carlos Moreno of the California Supreme Court will speak at UC Davis Tuesday as the School of Law celebrates the contributions of Latino community leader Cesar Chavez with a weeklong series of noon-hour discussions. Moreno will speak on "Latino Trailblazers in the Judiciary." Other discussions include "Farm Worker Empowerment Then and Now" Monday; "Cutting-Edge Issues in Employment Discrimination" Wednesday; and "Advocating for Our Next Generation: Health and Education in Migrant Farm Worker Communities" Thursday. The documentary "Mariposas en el Andamio" (Butterflies in the Scaffold), to be screened at 11:55 a.m. Friday, shows the day-to-day life of gay and drag communities in Cuba. The events, which will be held in the Moot Court Room of King Hall, are sponsored by La Raza Law Students Association and others.
