UC Davis students Scott McCormick, foreground, and James Keith were part of a crew that moved 200 new mattresses into two residence halls last week to prepare for a large freshman class. As of thisweek, Student Housing was planning to accommodate 25 percent of about 4,880 residents in triples and a few quads. About 5,650 admitted freshmen are intending to register, about 560 more than the high end of the enrollment target. The numbers are expected to decline as the fall approaches.
