SHORELINE 'CANDY STORE' ...

Dean Phyllis Wise, far left, looks on as UC President Robert Dynes speaks with staff, faculty and students at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory. Dynes visited the facility in late October as part of his continuing Inaugural Tour, which has seen him visit all UC campuses and various major university facilities to meet people and learn about each site. Dean Neal Van Alfen from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences also accompanied the president on the recent trip, which focused on several CA&ES activities in Napa/Sonoma, including a stop at the Oakville Experimental Vineyard and a visit to an area impacted by sudden oak death. Dynes attended a reception with more than 100 alumni from throughout the system that included a lengthy question-and-answer period. He showed much enthusiasm as students, staff and faculty talked about their activities, describing himself as a "kid in a candy store" getting to learn about all of the wonderful and diverse activities undertaken by the university.
