Shared services open forum

As part of the Chancellor’s Organizational Excellence Initiative, an open forum will be held June 29 to discuss recent findings on administration streamlining.

The areas of focus are finance, human resources, information technology, research administration, gift processing, development, and communications.

The forum is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Activities and Recreation Center Ballroom. Parking is available in lot VP 25. Attendance is limited and advance registration is encouraged. Release time with supervisor approval is appropriate.

A live webcast of the forum will be available at www.ucdavis.edu. People can log in and view the live webcast both during and after the event.

In May, the university’s Organizational Excellence team, in coordination with a campus consultant, ScottMadden surveyed employees in these areas to collect data on how these services are being provided. The campus has completed this analysis and the general findings will be discussed at the forum. In addition, next steps in the shared services project will be presented.

The Organizational Excellence Shared Services Project is focused on administrative units including Administrative and Resource Management, Information and Educational Technology, Offices of the Chancellor and Provost, Student Affairs and University Relations. The Office of Research will be involved in a second phase of implementation.

“The goal of these efforts is to redesign the university’s administrative service structure to support the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective service with fewer resources,” wrote Karen Hull, associate vice chancellor for Human Resources, in a June 22 e-mail to campus leaders.
