Professor Wins National Human Rights Award

"White Women, Race Matters: The Social Construction of Whiteness" by Ruth Frankenberg, UC Davis professor of American Studies, has won the annual award from Gustavus Myers Center for the Study of Human Rights in North America. The 1993 book, published by the University of Minnesota, also garnered the Jessie Barnard Award, given by the American Sociological Association to especially honor sociologists who make contributions to feminist or women's sociology.
