Our sports are the best in all of Division II

UC Davis has captured its third Sears Directors’ Cup at the Division II level in five years, it was announced Tuesday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics at its annual convention.

The Aggies have not finished lower than second place in the five-year history of the award at the Division II level. UC Davis last won the award in 1997.

UC Davis scored 690.5 points, beating runner-up North Dakota State, which had 663.5 points, and third-place North Dakota, which finished with 486.5. The Aggies had 12 teams place among the top 10 nationally.

"I can’t think of a better testament to the special nature of UC Davis Athletics than our repeated Sears Directors’ Cup recognition," Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef said. "It again confirms that our program emphasizes the right things -- excellence on the field and in the classroom, and a breadth of opportunities for both women and men."
