OPEN ENROLLMENT: Medical plan overview meetings added

The Health Care Facilitator Program announced two additional presentations of its medical plan overview during the last 12 days of open enrollment.

All UC Davis employees with health benefits are invited to attend. The meetings are scheduled as follows:

Davis Campus—Noon-1:30 p.m. Nov. 17, MU II, Memorial Union.

Sacramento Campus—2-3:30 p.m. Nov. 20, G300 Patient Support Services Building.

These are in addition to open enrollment presentations put on by Human Resources. Two more of these presentations are scheduled on the Davis Campus:

Nov. 19—1:30-2:30 p.m.

Nov. 24—2-3 p.m.

Location for both is 182 HR Administration Building on Orchard Road, just west of La Rue Road.

HR personnel on the Sacramento Campus plan to set up information tables one more time: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 18 in the cafeteria of the Ellison Building (Ambulatory Care Center).

The Health Care Facilitator Program also announced an additional presentation of a program focusing on health insurance after you retire. This session is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 20 in G300 Patient Support Services Building on the Sacramento Campus.

Open enrollment began Oct. 30 and continues until midnight Nov. 25. During open enrollment, you may:

• Transfer to a different UC-sponsored medical or dental plan.

• Add eligible family members to your medical, dental or vision plans.

• Opt in or out of medical, dental or vision plans.

• Opt in or out of Tax Savings on Insurance Premiums (TIP); enrollment is automatic unless you previously opted out.

• Enroll or re-enroll in the flexible spending account plans for health care expenses and-or dependent care expenses.

Generally, the way to make changes is online: atyourservice.ucop.edu. However, if you do not have access to a computer, see "At a Glance" below for information on how to complete the open enrollment process. All changes will be effective Jan. 1, 2009.

If you are satisfied with your enrollments as they are now, there is nothing that you need to do—your plans will continue unchanged, with two exceptions, both regarding flexible spending accounts:

To participate in either the Health FSA or the DepCare FSA for 2009, you must enroll during open enrollment—participation in these plans does not automatically carry over from year to year.

A major change for 2009 is a switch in flexible spending account administration, from SHPS to CONEXIS. (See separate story.)
