Nomination period open for provost, research vice chancellor

UC Davis has called for nominations to fill two major executive positions: provost and executive vice chancellor, and research vice chancellor.

The provost and executive vice chancellor reports directly to the chancellor and serves as the campus’s chief academic officer. He or she acts for the chancellor in the chancellor’s absence and is the chancellor’s principal liaison to the Academic Senate. The person holding this position is responsible for leading the development of the campus’s academic priorities and strategies and ensuring the academic preeminence of UC Davis.

Also, the provost shares a leadership role in defining resource allocation and developing campus priorities, implementing the budget process, and managing the university’s daily operations.

The vice chancellor of the Office of Research will have an “extraordinary opportunity to shape the university’s research mission,” according to the position description. In collaboration with faculty and the chancellor, the research vice chancellor will develop a new vision and strategic plan aimed at maximizing UC Davis’ cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary connections. He or she will be responsible for providing direction on strategic planning, research initiatives and driving research efforts into the marketplace.

For either position, nominations, inquiries, applications and resumes should be directed to Alberto Pimentel, managing partner, Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, 1111 Corporate Center Drive, Suite 106, Monterey Park 91754. The e-mail address is apsearch@storbeckpimental.com.
