NEW BEGINNINGS ...

Three new upper level administrators, were all smiles following their "New Beginnings" welcome reception on Oct. 20 at the Silo Café and Pub. The event recognizing the new administrators, sponsored by the Staff Affirmative Action and Diversity Advisory Committee, was attended by more than 50 fellow staff members. From left, honored were Leon Washington, Pam Burnett and Griselda Castro. "We wanted to honor three people of color who reached upper level management," said Hispanic Staff Association member Julie Garcia, who helped organize the event. "This is in recognition of all their achievements." Garcia added that she hoped the ceremony would become an annual event. Washington took over as assistant vice chancellor for enrollment and academic support, Castro is now assistant vice chancellor for student affairs in areas including student life and housing and campus climate, and Burnett recently became director of undergraduate admissions and outreach services.
