Mexican cuisine expert to speak at Robert Mondavi Institute

Author Diana Kennedy, acclaimed as the most knowledgeable writer in English of Mexican cooking, will discuss her newly published book “Oaxaca Gusto: An Infinite Gastronomy” during an Oct. 28 public presentation at the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science at UC Davis.

“An Evening With Diana Kennedy” will be held at 5 p.m. in the Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater, located in the Robert Mondavi Institute Sensory Building. A 6:30 p.m. food-and-beverage pairing, featuring assorted Mexican wines and beers, will follow her presentation.

Kennedy has been a student of Mexican cooking and cuisine for more than 50 years and has published several classic books on the subject. Her latest book spotlights the cuisine of the state of Oaxaca, one of Mexico’s most diverse regions.

Cost for the evening will be $35 for the general public and $20 for UC Davis staff, students and faculty, as well as friends of the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science.
