Chancellor Gary S. May has news to share with faculty and staff at the 2020 Kickoff Celebration, Monday, Jan. 27.

What does UC Davis have planned for the coming decade, and how can faculty and staff continue to play a pivotal role in earning accolades and recognition for our university?

Chancellor Gary S. May will answer those questions and more at the 2020 Kickoff Celebration, this coming Monday afternoon (Jan. 27) in The Pavilion at the ARC.

AT A GLANCE

“The public does not know the true breadth of our enterprise, but soon it will recognize the extraordinary nature of UC Davis,” May said in a video inviting all faculty and staff to the free event.

A Human Resources advisory states release time is appropriate with supervisor approval. Here’s the link to say you’re coming (RSVPs required). The event will also be livestreamed.

Interactive preshow activities will start at 2 p.m.:

  • Visit any of a number of photo booths for fun shots for social media (or get serious for professional headshots for university websites).
  • Step inside a video booth to tell why you choose to work at UC Davis and what about the university’s future excites you.
  • Listen to the university’s podcast, Unfold, or try out virtual reality experiences that showcase UC Davis research.

You’ll also have the opportunity to take home vegetables from the Student Farm and fill a bag with seeds from the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden for sprouting at home.

Giveaways of university-branded items will also take place during the preshow activities, and refreshments will be served.

The chancellor will take the stage at 3 p.m. to discuss ways in which UC Davis will continue to grow in the future. His presentation will include a message from David Lubarsky, vice chancellor of Human Health Sciences and CEO of UC Davis Health. A similar event is being held simultaneously on the Sacramento campus
