Austin, Texas-based Grupo Fantasma is set to perform at UC Davis on Aug. 21 in the last program of this year’s SummerMusic on the Quad series. Pop Culture Press describes Grupo Fantasma as “one of the all-time great Texas dance bands.” The concert, open to the public, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., with the Quad opening for picnicking at 6:30 p.m. In accordance with university policy, alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Grupo Fantasma, featuring a double rhythm section and four horns, is known for its inventive blend of a wide range of Latin music styles and its exuberant live performances. SummerMusic is presented by the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, with support from Summer Sessions.
