Seymour Gold, a UC Davis professor of environmental planning and a nationally recognized expert on playground safety, has been selected by the Sacramento Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers to receive its Safety Citizen of the Year Award. Gold has conducted extensive research on recreational safety and in 1990 helped draft playground safety legislation for California.
