Filmmakers Show Two Gay-Themed Movies

May 8, Saturday -- Bay Area filmmakers Donald Goldmacher and Dan Bree will show two films at a free public event. Bree's "Act of Faith" explores the conflict between homosexuality and traditional Islam in interviews with three gay Muslim men. Goldmacher's award-winning "Ruthie and Connie: Every Room in the House" is a biography of two longtime partners who made headlines when one of them successfully sued the New York City public schools, forcing the city to extend domestic partner benefits to gay and lesbian employees. To be held 4-6 p.m. in the AGR Room of the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center, the event occurs during the campus's annual Whole Earth Festival, and festival participants are welcome. Make reservations at http://www.alumni.ucdavis.edu/rsvp or by calling toll-free (866) 826-6740. The screening and discussion are sponsored by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally Alumni chapter of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.
