The propeller bar. The jumping spider. The warped wall.

Those were a few of the obstacles facing former UC Davis gymnast Anna Shumaker ’14 on the Sept. 3 episode of American Ninja Warrior.

It was Shumaker’s third appearance one of NBC Television’s Ninja Warrior obstacle-course shows, and her first time in the final round of competition.

“When I retired from gymnastics I needed another outlet for myself,” she told UC Davis Magazine. “I needed to fill the void that gymnastics left behind, so when I saw American Ninja Warrior on TV, I just knew that was what I was going to do next.”

Football off to banner start

Wide receiver Keelan Doss’ first pitch must have been right down the middle of the plate, because the UC Davis football team is off to a banner start this season.

With wins against San Jose State and the University of San Diego, the UC Davis football team has made its first-ever appearance in the top 25 of STATS FCS’ national ranking, at No. 23.

The Aggies' next opponent is the Stanford Cardinal, 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 15) at Stanford. The game will be broadcast by the Pac-12 Networks.
