Injured Mountain Lion Released After Burn Treatment

A 7-year-old mountain lion is back in the wild after being treated for burns by the Wildlife Disaster Network. The organization, which is a partnership between the School of Veterinary Medicine and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, released the female mountain lion over the weekend.

Her paws were burned in the Bobcat Fire, north of Los Angeles. Watch the above video or read this Facebook post for more information.

Students looking to get back in the gym can now return to the Activities and Recreation Center, while others can continue to follow along with Campus Recreation’s free online workouts.

The ARC reopened to students Sunday (Nov. 1), limited to 10 percent capacity. Reservations are required in advance and can be made online. The same system also allows students to reserve a time to visit the Craft Center, which also reopened Sunday.

While the ARC is currently only open to students, others still have a way to stay active. The facility will open its doors to faculty and staff on Dec. 1, while those who want to work out remotely can continue to do so through Aggies at Home, Campus Recreation’s free courses led by students on the department’s Facebook page.

“We are experiencing a high level of engagement with our Aggies at Home series offering live and recorded online workouts in the comfort of your own home,” Campus Recreation said on its website. “We will be continuing this program for the entire school year and likely beyond.”

A weekly schedule of Aggies at Home broadcasts is available online.
