Peregrine falcons have returned to nest at UC Davis Health.

Need something to watch that won’t remind you of the grim news swirling around the world? How about a baby foal or a pair of peregrine falcons returning to nest on a rooftop at UC Davis Health?

The falcons, which can be watched on a live webcam, have returned to the building each year since 2015.

Last year proved very successful for the falcons as the parents welcomed four youngsters.

Viewers of the livestream enjoyed nearly round-the-clock peregrine activities until mid-June when the birds left the nest. See a timeline of their 2019 activities on a page titled “Keeping Up With the Peregrines: Season 1.”

UC Davis welcomes new foal

It’s a boy! The newest resident of the UC Davis Horse Barn was born at 2 a.m. on March 10. See the young colt in the above video. Horse Barn manager Kelli Davis explained that he hasn’t been named yet.

“Before we name them, we just call them by their dam’s [mother’s] name with the year they foaled, so he would be Rap Her Up 2020,” she said.

Take a virtual tour of the new buses

The new, electric buses that make up the Causeway Connection haven't started running between Davis and Sacramento yet, but anyone curious about the new service can take a tour of them in the above 360-degree video.
