The Enchanted Cellar features pre-made costumes from popular culture.

The Enchanted Cellar, a rental service operated by the Department of Theatre and Dance, has costumes inspired by such popular series and films as Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Star Trek along with folklore and literary heroines, movie stars and superheroes, animated favorites, fairies, and original Steampunk. Many iconic fashion periods are represented too, such as the 1920s, Victorian England and the French Court of Marie Antoinette.

Customers can choose a premade costume or work with a consultant to piece together their own rental, shop director Roxanne Femling said.

The Enchanted Cellar is located in Room 17 on the lower level of Wright Hall. Although appointments are preferred, but the shop will welcome walk-ins from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 17-19 and 24-26, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 29-31.

Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27, are by appointment only and must be booked 24 hours in advance.

To set up an appointment, contact Roxanne Femling by email or call 530-752-0740.

Alum hopes to 'survive'

The 37th season of CBS's Survivor features a familiar face: UC Davis alumnus John Hennigan, who graduated from the College of Letters and Science in 2002. He may also be familiar for another reason: More than a decade as a professional wrestler under the names Johnny Nitro, John Morrison and more.

Now he's part of the cast of Survivor, which this year has a "David vs. Goliath" theme. Hennigan is on the "Goliath" side, which the show describes as people who "tend to capitalize on their individual advantages and use them against their opponents."

The show airs at 7 p.m. Wednesdays on CBS Sacramento.
