Several organization at UC Davis are teaming up for a staff and retiree food drive in May

Donations are being accepted through May 31 at several locations on the Davis and Sacramento campuses:

Organizers are seeking:

  • Canned food
  • Pantry staples (e.g. rice, pasta)
  • Low-preparation items
  • Shelf stable snacks
  • Toiletries

A detailed donation guide is available online.

The food drive is a partnership between Staff Assembly, the Retiree Association, the UC Davis chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science, and Employee Well-being.

Organizers cited a survey last year from the Employee Basic Needs Initiative — part of Healthy UC Davis — that found 41% of Davis campus staff respondents and 54% of Sacramento campus staff respondents are at risk for food insecurity.

Supporting colleagues facing food instability is a vital way to foster a healthier, more resilient workplace,” organizers said. “Your contributions directly impact the well-being and stability of our campus community.”

Food will be distributed from 7 a.m.–6 p.m. on June 9 at the Administrative Services West building, 1333 Research Park Drive.
