UC Davis Children’s Hospital hopes to shoot a goal worth $20,000 at the Sacramento Republic FC’s Aug. 22 game — and the hospital needs our help to do it.

Not on the soccer pitch, but as ticket buyers for the Saturday night game. Here’s how the promotion works: Sac Republic will donate $20 to the hospital for every ticket sold to buyers who use this link and the promotion code KIDS, up to a maximum donation of $20,000.

But get this: Once ticket sales hit 500 (worth a $10,000 donation), Sac Republic is prepared to double its donation to $20,000 as soon as someone buys ticket No. 501.

The hospital is sweetening the deal by offering a replica soccer jersey T-shirt with each ticket purchase, while the T-shirt supply lasts. The shirts will be distributed Aug. 13 at the hospital’s annual summer concert, a free event for the community; and at the Aug. 22 game. Proof of ticket purchase required.

The soccer game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Bonney Field at Cal Expo. Sac Republic will take on Real Monarchs SLC of Salt Lake City in a United Soccer League match-up.

Sac Republic FC began play in 2014, and UC Davis Children’s Hospital has been a partner every step of the way — hence the hospital’s name on the team jerseys.

“We are so grateful for UC Davis Children’s Hospital’s partnership with Sacramento Republic FC and this very generous donation commitment by the team,” said Jacquelyn Mills, director of development for UC Davis’ participation in the Children’s Miracle Network. “It gives our employees, students and the public the opportunity to be miracle makers and make a difference in the lives of our pediatric patients, while enjoying a great night of soccer.”

Money raised will benefit patient care, research, medical equipment and programs at UC Davis Children's Hospital.

Sac Republic spokesperson Erika Bjork said: “UC Davis Children’s Hospital changes lives for the better each and every day for our region. Our pride in partnering with such an amazing medical center goes beyond wearing UC Davis Children’s Hospital across our kits and extends to promotions such as these that improve the health and lives of children.”

UC Davis Children’s Hospital is the Sacramento region’s only nationally ranked, comprehensive hospital for children, serving infants, children, adolescents and young adults with primary, subspecialty and critical care. The hospital includes the Central Valley’s only pediatric emergency department and Level I pediatric trauma center, which offers the highest level of care for critically ill children.

The 129-bed children’s hospital includes 49-bed neonatal and 24-bed pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiac intensive care units. With more than 120 physicians in 33 subspecialties, UC Davis Children's Hospital has more than 74,000 clinic and hospital visits and 13,000 emergency department visits each year.
